So much has been going on here lately, but there hasn’t been enough time to sit and write about it, so today, I wanted to leave a pretty simple update and a challenge for everyone that reads this. We recently had Floyd McClung come and do a few teaching sessions (which were amazing by the way). If you haven’t read any of his books, find them and read them!!! (Living on the Devil’s Doorstep, Learning to Love People You Don’t Like)

But anyways, here’s a simple ministry technique that he left us with, and I want to challenge all of you to try. We talked about reaching out to people’s felt needs and desires. It might not be something that they really need to survive, but it’s something they care about.   
 

Well, a great way to find out what people want, is to simply ask them. And there is a really easy technique he shared with us. As westerners, going out to eat is a huge part of our culture. If you are at a restaurant, when the waiter serves your food, and you are going to pray for it, ask the waiter something along the lines of “We are about to bless our food before we eat…is there anything that you would like prayer for? Is there anything that you want from God?”

Sometimes the answer may be a very serious thing, such as a health issue, and other times it may be a dream they have. Maybe they want a new job, maybe they want to own a horse, maybe they need a vacation or want to go back to school. It really doesn’t matter what they desire. Knowing that you care enough to pray for a real or felt need can be a huge boost to their life. Sometimes God may lead you to assist them as well, whether it’s through connections you have, or maybe even providing some sort of financial assistance with their dream.   
 

But the reality is, it takes 2 seconds to ask this question….whether to a waiter, or the person at the drive-thru window. The answer usually won’t be too long either. But you are taking a few seconds from your day to reach out in a very simple manner to someone else………and you never know when something as simple as this can change somebody’s life.
